Dementia Care

at Bankfoot House

As we get older, many of us will experience some form of dementia. If you or the person you care for is concerned, it is important that you get in touch with your GP so that a full assessment can be undertaken.

There are a range of different care settings that are appropriate for different levels of need and you need to be matched to the right resource.

Bankfoot is not a Nursing Home, nor is it a registered EMI (Elderly Mentally Ill) facility; so it is not always an appropriate place for people who have particularly challenging behaviours.  Finding the best place to live is a hugely important decision so please contact us to talk this through; we will do our very best to help.

Our dementia care

However, many of our Residents do have a dementia diagnosis, are settled & comfortable at Bankfoot and are a valued part of our community. The peaceful surroundings, views and open aspects from our lounges are really valued by Residents and they wander freely about the building, including in and out of the secure Courtyard Garden. ‘Our House is Your Home’ and it’s not unusual to find Residents in our Staff Meetings & Training Sessions!

Our experience is that many people with mild to moderate dementia or Alzheimers can thrive at Bankfoot.

The safe and peaceful environment, alongside stimulating activities and expert care, encourages and settles them.

As with all care at Bankfoot, our approach is highly personalised, built around the needs of each Resident . For further details please read the section on Residential Care.
